Top London Attraction 3: The Big Ben

Big Ben is among the best known London landmarks and looks great at night when there is an illumination of its facade.Another light is visible when the parliament is in session.

The name Big Ben is taken from the name of the first commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall and refers to the 13 ton bell that hangs on the tower.

The bell was first hung on the old Palace of Westminster,where it was given to the Dean of St. Paul's by William III.BBC London regularly broadcasts its chimes beginning the 31st December 1923.
