Oyster Card has an initial fixed charge for the card ( around £2-£3) and then you can charge it with a reasonable value to use it as an Oyster Pay as You Go or put a Daily, Weekly, Monthly Travelcard on it. The daily Pay as You Go figure is capped, so you don't pay more than a certain amount for the zones travelled.
